After four years at the University of Central Arkansas, associate vice president of communications, public relations and marketing, Christina Madsen has announced her departure.

The UCA employee took to her Facebook on June 7 to let people know.

“Well I have some bittersweet news to share,” she wrote in a post shared on her personal page.

Madsen continued and said she was leaving UCA at the end of the summer to partner with Michelle Pugh to form Muñoz Pugh, a strategic marketing and communications firm.

“In recent years, my interest in entrepreneurship and business ownership has flourished as well as my own personal development,” she said.

Madsen said this new business, as well as her two current side gigs — promoting Rodan and Fields and working as commercial talent — will allow her to be a full-time entrepreneur.

Before coming on at UCA, Madsen worked in television news, 11 years at KATV Channel 7, as an evening anchor.

“I will forever be grateful to UCA for the opportunity to work here and so enjoyed getting to know the UCA family,” Madsen said. “It has allowed my family and me to not only become a part of the UCA community but also the Conway community, which I love.”

She said her family — husband, Dave, and daughters Sydney and Reagan — have enjoyed have the opportunity to cheer on the UCA Bears and UCA Sugar Bears and will continue to do that for “years to come.”

As to Muñoz Pugh, Madsen said it will focus on helping businesses navigate the “ever-changing role,” that communicate plays on being able to grow a business and encouraged any that are in need of a marketing and/or communication needs to contact her at christina@munozpugh.com.
