From Conway Police Department reports
Woman reports missing phone
A 75-year-old woman told police she believes someone stole her phone while she was getting her hair cut at Walmart on Saturday.
According to an incident report, the woman's husband called Conway police shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday, stating his wife went to the Walmart on Skyline Drive to get her hair done and noticed her phone was missing when she got home. The woman reportedly placed her iPhone into her purse, covered her purse with a newspaper and left the purse unattended while getting her hair done.
The couple told authorities they would call the police department back when they learned what the phone's serial number was.
Car-Mart says truck was stolen off lot
A manager at America's Car-Mart called police Saturday to report a vehicle theft.
A manager at the dealership called the police department on Saturday to report a 2005 GMC 1500 truck was stolen off the lot Friday. The manager told authorities the truck was taken up to the garage to be detailed on Sunday and that he noticed the truck was missing Monday evening.
While speaking with other store employees about the missing truck, the manager said one of the dealership's detailers had "given an odd story," according to an incident report.
The employee said he went to the dealership to detail his personal vehicle when he saw the GMC truck sitting in the garage, "so he grabbed the things he needed to clean his vehicle and washed it outside."
The complainant told police the truck was parked in the dealership's middle garage and that the keys were kept on a work bench while it was parked in the garage, noting the vehicle "was recently procured by America's Car-Mart from a private seller and the vehicle did not have a license plate on it."
The manager told police he would send over security footage to the police department.
Homeless man reportedly found with heroin at Walmart
A 24-year-old homeless man was arrested after authorities reportedly found a syringe with heroin in it inside his backpack outside of Walmart on Saturday.
According to an incident report, Walmart employees requested police talk to two men who were allegedly loitering at the store for about eight hours on Saturday. Employees also told authorities they wanted the suspects banned from the property.
While speaking with one of the suspects, identified as Darrell Coggins II, authorities noted he "was sweating a lot and fidgeting with various things."
Coggins told police he was fidgeting because he was detoxing, noting he was recently kicked out of the Phoenix Recovery Center because he'd relapsed. The responding officer learned Coggins had an active absconder warrant out of the Arkansas Parole Board and had an active search waiver on file.
When asked if he had anything illegal on him, Coggins said he was unsure.
"Mr. Coggins stated he did not think that he had anything but that he could not be sure," the incident report reads in part. "I advised Mr. Coggins that I was going to search his person and that I needed to know if he had any needles so that I would not get injured. Mr. Coggins offered to check his pockets before I did because he stated that he could not be sure if he had anything."
While searching Coggins' backpack, authorities found two syringes, "one was used and empty and the other had a clear liquid in it."
A field test kit showed the syringe was loaded with methamphetamine and heroin.
Coggins was ultimately arrested onsite for the absconder warrant and charged with possession of a controlled substance
