A program on health — "Milk vs. Beer" — was presented by Mrs. W.S. Martin at the W.C.T.U. Friday at the courthouse. Seventy dollars was reported for the national educational fund. The union voted life memberships to Mrs. J.R. Donnell, Mrs. B.L. Harton, Mrs. W.S. Martin, Mrs. Virginia Dean, Mrs. R.F. Adams, Mrs. W.S. Hanner and Mrs. R.N. Wilson.

Sherbert C. Benton of Conway was named vice president and president-elect of the Arkansas Mutual Insurance Agents Association at a meeting in Hot Springs last weekend. Van Mosely of Camden assumed the presidency.

Also attending the Hot Springs meeting were Alvan Lynch, Mrs. Benton and Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Dunaway of Conway.

Mark and Sherry Thomas of Conway are parents of a son, Stuart Alan, born Thursday (May 7, 1987) at Baptist Medical Center. The baby weighed 6 pounds, 4 ounces. Grandparents are Ken and Hilda Johnson and Jim and Betty Thomas, all of Conway. Great-grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. M.J. Gordon of Denham Springs, La., and Vassie Thomas, Elsie Fugatt and the late R.O. Fugatt, all of Conway.

Conway High School pitcher Dennis Jones signed a letter of intent with Arkansas Tech University as his parents, Danna and Paul Jones, Coach Barry Lueders, Dennis’ brother Robert and Coach Noel Boucher watched during a signing ceremony on Wednesday at the school. Jones won nine games this season for the Wampus Cats this year with a 2.00 ERA.
