Miss Rachael Stohre of Gilbert, Ariz., and Mr. Russ Merritt of Conway were united in marriage at 5 p.m. June 22, 2012, in a double-ring ceremony at Forest Highlands Golf Club in Flagstaff, Ariz., officiated by Andrew Dempsey of Cairo, Egypt.

The bride is the daughter of Mark and Cindy Stohre of Gilbert, Ariz. She is the granddaughter of Vivian Hannan of Sister Bay, Wis., and the late Kenneth Hannan of DePere, Wis., and Arlan and Valma Stohre of Phoenix, Ariz.

The groom is the son of Jim and Debbie Merritt of Conway. He is the grandson of Stanley Russ and the late Nina Russ of Conway and Tom and the late Peggy Merritt of Hubbard, Texas.

Musicians were Marty Cook, violin; Emily Millhouse, cello; and Nick Roland, guitar. Soloist was Beth Anderson who sang "I Will Waste My Life."

The ceremony took place in an outdoor wedding with a rustic arch made by the bride’s uncle and draped with garland and colored glass lanterns.

The bride was escorted by her father. She wore an ivory satin gown and carried a bouquet of plum calla lilies, white dahlias, and white freesia with green berries.

The maid of honor was Anna Leonard of Phoenix, Ariz., and bridesmaids were Heidi Dempsey of Cairo, Egypt, Heather Hatfield of Tucson, Ariz., and Shannon Stohre of Gilbert, Ariz. Each wore a peacock blue dress.

Ring bearers were Joel and Ethan Holmberg of Beirut, Lebanon, and flower girls were Madison and Hannah Stohre of Gilbert, Ariz.

Best man was Jonathan Holmberg of Beirut, Lebanon, and groomsmen were Nick Roland of Springdale, Ark., Mike Evans and Erik Wright, both of Conway.

Ushers were Luke Stohre of Gilbert, Ariz., and Aaron Weide of Flagstaff, Ariz.

Presiding at the bride’s book were the groom’s sisters Anna Ruth Merritt and Libby Harrington.

The reception was held at the Forest Highlands Canyon clubhouse.

Reception and serving table decorations included peacock blue fabric with candles and jewel tone lanterns. Stories of the countries where their lives intersected were displayed on each table.

After a wedding trip to Hawaii, Mr. and Mrs. Merritt are currently residing in Phoenix, Ariz.
