Fred W. Halter of Conway will gather the reports this year for the federal census bureau on cotton ginning in Faulkner County. He was recently appointed to succeed Bezaleel Been, who had held the position for several years.
Mr. Halter will make his first report on the ginnings in this county prior to Sept. 1. The report will be published about Sept. 9.
Spc. 5 John A. Sellers, 26-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. A.W. Sellers, is serving as a laboratory technician with U.S. Army forces in South Vietnam.
Sellers is stationed at Nahtrang. He said in letters to his parents he works and lives in recently erected native-built buildings.
He trained in a laboratory school at San Antonio, Texas, a year before going overseas.
Sellers visited his home here in early July. He has been in the Army nearly four years.
Jennifer Brown of Conway has been awarded a Presidential Honors Scholarship by Oklahoma Baptist University at Shawnee, Okla., for the 1987-88 academic year.
The award covers full tuition and is worth $3,040.
The Conway Morning Rotary Club recently named five members Paul Harris Fellows. They are John Bumpers, Steve Floyd, Ed Franklin, David Keith and Janie Ryan.
The club is entitled to name one fellow for each $1,000 that members contribute to the Rotary Foundation, the civic organization’s international philanthropic branch. Fellows are selected based on their contributions to the club and to the community.
