Missouri Pacific Transportation Company officials were logging the new highway between Conway and Palarm today, arranging for stopping places and a new schedule, B.C. Benedict, station agent, was informed. The Missouri Pacific buses, which still traverse the old road, will begin traveling the new route about Sept. 1, Benedict said.

Mrs. Robert F. Kordsmeier, Mrs. Felix Moix Jr. and Mrs. Virgil E. Moore honored Miss Mary Ann Pruss of Marche, bride-elect of Edmond Moix, with a miscellaneous shower Wednesday night at the Kordsmeier home south of Conway. Games were played by the guests. Arrangements of summer flowers were used throughout the entertaining rooms. The serving table was covered with a white cut work cloth and centered with yellow pom pons and tall tapers. Individual cakes, punch and nuts were served.

Two Conway cowgirls were among six Arkansans to reach the finals of the Junior World Timed Event Championship recently at Steer Palace USA at Alma.

Cyndi Story and Jennifer Isaacs joined Tanya Sutherlan and Myle Treat of Springdale in the finals, which featured the top 20 performers from two earlier go-rounds. Justin Bailey of Springdale and Greg Ault of Jessieville also reached the finals.

Raymond Carter of Conway was honored Aug. 19 on his 91st birthday with a party at his home.

Carter was born Aug. 19, 1911, in Rose Bud. He married the late Marcell Manning, in May 1930. He has two sons, David O’Neal and Bill, who both live in California. He has four grandsons and one granddaughter.
