Beta Sigma Phi Laureate Alpha Omega

The Executive Board of Laureate Alpha Omega chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Saturday at the home of Vernelle Crews. Sondra Pugh, president, conducted the meeting. The new budget for the 2014-15 year was prepared and other chapter issues discussed. The social calendar for the new year was presented and the chapter Yardstick will be completed for International.

Following the business meeting everyone enjoyed mimosas. Pam Rawls led the BSP Grace and members of the executive committee provided brunch for the general membership serving breakfast casserole, hash browns, fruit, sweet breads, coffee cake, chicken salad wraps, juice and coffee.

This year’s scrapbook, along with a few scrapbooks from prior years, were displayed. Members drew names for secret sisters for the coming year and completed forms to be hostess and to provide programs compatible with the International theme, "Expand Your Family Tree."

This year Beginning Day will be held at the home of Linda Alverson on Aug. 16. The first regular meeting in September will be hosted by Carol Bales.

Newcomers Club

Something new is about to happen. So listen up!

Instead of having our next meeting at lunch-time, it was decided that we will have an evening meal and program at the Conway Country Club at 6:00pm on Thursday, July 10.

We hope this will encourage some of the working ladies to attend and find out what’s new and meet some new friends and say hi to some old ones.

Our program speaker that evening will be Jack Bell, who is the Chief of Staff Officer at the Mayors office and he will be speaking on such topics as Parks, streets, shopping areas and etcetera. What’s new, what’s going on and what’s been going on, so here’s your chance to be in on the "know-of-today." Get your questions and hopefully Mr. Bell will have your answers.

Laura Kirk-Clark, our president, initiated our new officers by giving each one of them a different flower and told of their meaning and it was a very lovely ceremony.

If anyone wants to join this great club of Newcomers, you know the qualifications, you should have a Conway address and be a resident of Conway less than three years and want to attend monthly luncheons and join in our numerous activities and meet wonderful and interesting women of all sizes, shapes and personalities.
