Credit Cards

By Maxine Spryes Hixon

Many useful things are continuing to be made

            of plastic…

Mundane…everyday uses and some even make

            baskets-;

One thing…universal and a detriment not to

            just a few-but many…

Is the credit card…so many different ones

            issued to all and any-;

It’s made so easy…many have advertised

            selling their card…

When at first…years ago…to get a credit

            card…many were barred.

 Need be careful…one buys this, another buys

            that-;

It’s made so easy to go in debt…for just about

            anything…another new hat…

In all the excitement of …the "free to all"

            spending spree;

All but forgotten…that it isn’t actually for

            free…

Pay-up is just delayed…interest adds daily…

            best not get too carried away.

Comes billing time…the "potpourri" of com-

            anies will have the last say.

 A good thing to learn…learn to live within

            your means…

Things aren’t always what they appear or just

            what they seem-;

That person you’ve noticed wearing last year’s

            wardrobe…again…

Is maybe the person who…made investments and

            has lots of land-;

 Saving something for a "rainy day" or old age

            is wisdom of the sage…

Not going into debt above what you can handle

            …from a wise person’s book…borrow a

                        page.
