United Missionary Baptist Church to observe homecoming
Pastor Gerald Jagers and the United Missionary Baptist Church family will observe the 43rd homecoming, Family, and Friends’ Day Celebration at 2:30 p.m. June 5. Guest church will be the New Jerusalem Baptist Church of Conway. The Rev. William E. Forté, pastor New Jerusalem, will give the afternoon sermon and the choir of New Jerusalem will render songs of praise. United Baptist Church is located at 139 Old Military Road, Conway. Free Fresh Start Seminar set
for June 4
A free Fresh Start Seminar, led by Dr. Larry Pillow from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 4 in the fellowship hall of Cornerstone Bible Church located at 1905 Dave Ward Drive. The seminar is designed to help participants learn how to identify loss(es), understand the process of grief and identify keys to help get a fresh start.

Springhill Baptist Church plans 151st Homecoming
Springhill Baptist Church in Greenbrier, where Bro. Ed Stephenson is pastor, will hold its annual Homecoming on June 5. There will be dinner at the church starting at noon. The afternoon singing will begin around 1:15 p.m. in the Worship Center. Music will be from the Heavenly Highway Hymnals with several members directing the singing. The church will have regular services in the morning, but Vacation Bible School will begin that night at 6. This will be the 151st Homecoming for Springhill. Everyone is invited to come and sing or listen to some great singing.
Fifth Sunday Singing planned for Victory Baptist Church
Victory Baptist Church located at 2230 Victory Lane in Conway will be holding its Fifth Sunday Singing at 5 p.m. Sunday. The public is invited to attend. There will be a finger food fellowship following singing. The church pastor is Michael Himes.
Christ Temple Holiness Church to hold Appreciation Services
The Christ Temple Holiness Church family will hold Appreciation Services for Elder Willie L. and Sis. Joyce M. Owens and family at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Gerald Jagers, pastor of the United Baptist Church, will give the appreciation message.
Owens was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He is a 1995 graduate of Westfield High School and a 1996 graduate of Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Services. He is currently a licensed mortician for Texas and Arkansas and has worked with several Funeral Homes throughout the Houston, Texas area. He was called to preach the gospel at the age of 13. He served under pastor MacArthur Paul of Greater Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. He became a licensed minister at the age of 18.
Owens joined the United States Air Force in 1999 and moved to Hurlburt Field, Fla. There he met Joyce McGee, and two years later, they were married in Houston, Texas.
After serving his country, he and his wife moved back to Houston, Texas. To this union, four children were born: Aaliyah, Alyssa, Joseph and Anaya. They joined Second Church of Christ (Holiness) U.S.A. under the leadership of pastor Huey P. Augustine Sr. He served as an associate minister for several years. Pastor Willie L. Owens Jr. and his family moved to Conway in December 2008 to become the pastor of the Christ Temple Holiness Church of Christ U.S.A.
The church’s weekly services are: Sunday school starts at 9 a.m., morning worship at 10 a.m., and Wednesday night Bible study at 7 p.m.
