Local church honors Mother of the Year

The Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church will honor Alberta Tillman as Mother of the Year during the 11 a.m. worship service Sunday. Mrs. Tillman joined the Pleasant Hill family six years ago when she and her husband, the late Herman Tillman, moved back to his childhood home near the Toadsuck community. Since moving to Arkansas, Tillman has proven to be a valuable member of the church and community. She is an active member of the Christian Women Journey Ministry whose goal is to help anyone in need. Tillman is the mother of four children. The public is invited. The church is located in the Toadsuck community. The Rev. James L. Delph is the host pastor.

Greater Pleasant Branch sets Christmas cantata

The J.R. Raynor Mass Choir will present a Christmas Cantata, "And They Called His Name, Jesus" at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, at the Greater Pleasant Branch Missionary Baptist Church located at 601 Spruce St. The Cantata, written and directed by Dr. Lloyd Hervey I, is based on Matthew l:21a. Lucy Willis-Washington will serve as guest director for the cantata.

J.R. Raynor is the pastor. The public is invited to come worship and experience the true meaning of Christmas in the birth, passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ through this dramatic musical.

Cheerful Givers' plan pre-Thanksgiving dinner

The Cheerful Givers' pre-Thanksgiving dinner will be held Saturday in the Education Building of Pleasant Branch Baptist Church, 601 Spruce St. This year, there are only "carry-outs." Meals may be picked up between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Fresh Start Seminar scheduled for Dec. 3

Dr. Larry Pillow is conducting a free Fresh Start Seminar from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at 805 Chapel Hill Road in Conway. Space is limited, and lunch will be served so pre-registration is a must. Call 327-2690 or e-mail cornerstone@cyberback.com to pre-register.

Fresh Start is a Christ centered seminar designed to help individuals, who have experienced crisis-transition or loss, begin again successfully. It is helpful for anyone who needs "Healing for the Past and Hope for the Future."

Greater Fellowship Christian Church to celebrate Usher Day

The Greater Fellowship Christian Church will be celebrating its annual Usher Day at 3 p.m. Sunday. This year's theme is "Do Not Neglect to Show Hospitality to Strangers" Hebrews 13:2. Special guest will be the Rev. Robert Floyd and the Unity Missionary Baptist Church of North Little Rock.
Greater Fellowship is located at No. 1 Wildwood Dr., Highway 365 in Conway, where Odie Phillips is pastor/teacher. The public is invited to attend.

Thanksgiving dinner set at Last Chance Ministries

Last Chance Ministries will be serving Thanksgiving dinner at 1132 Main St. in Vilonia from 1-3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 24. Everyone is invited. Church service is on Fridays at 7 p.m. at 31 Liberty Road in Vilonia, commonly called "The Barn," and on Sundays at 10 a.m.

Last Chance Ministries is currently accepting donations for the homeless and needy in Faulkner County for the Christmas holidays to help with the children of the women in its shelter. They are in need of canned foods, toys, blankets, a freezer and an electric cook stove, and a twin bed for the shelter. Last Chance Ministries is a 501 c 3 Charity.
