Heather Smith of Conway and Jay Hammers of Conway have announced their engagement and forthcoming marriage.
The bride-elect is the daughter Robert and Estelle Smith of Conway and the granddaughter of the late William and Rachel Smith of Conway, the late Curtis Horton of Cleavland, Texas, and Connie Lancaster of Gurdon. She graduated from the University of Central Arkansas in 2000 with a bachelor of science in early childhood education. She is currently a first-grade teacher at Florence Mattison Elementary School.
The prospective groom is the son of Michael and Lisa Hammers of Conway and the grandson of the late James and Mildred Hammers of Columbus, Miss., the late James T. Shepherd of Laurel, Miss., and Ms. Margrete Shepherd of Petal, Miss.
He is a 2003 graduate of Mississippi State University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration/marketing, and in 2005 he receivied a master’s degree with emphasis in sports administration. He is currently employed as a sales support representative at AT&T.
The 2 p.m. wedding is set to take place Jan. 15, 2011. The ceremony and following reception will take place at the Woodland Heights Baptist Church in Conway.
