Ellen Jernigan of Little Rock and Ryan Smith of Conway have announced their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Ms. Jacqueline Jernigan of Little Rock and the granddaughter of Ms. Myrline Jernigan of Sherwood.

She is a 2005 graduate of Pulaski Academy High School, a 2009 graduate of the University of Central Arkansas with a bachelor of science, and a 2011 graduate of UCA with a master of science in speech language pathology.

Ellen is currently employed as a speech language pathologist at Pathfinder Preschool in Jacksonville, Ark.

The prospective groom is the son of Mr. C. Michael and Mrs. Barbara Smith of Conway. He is the grandson of the late Charles and Bonnie Smith of Little Rock and the late Charles and Mildred Keen of Memphis, Tenn.

He is a 2001 graduate of Conway High School, a 2005 graduate of the University of Central Arkansas with a bachelor of science, and a 2008 graduate of UCA with a doctorate in physical therapy.

Ryan is currently employed as a physical therapist in Therapy Rehab and Solutions at St. Andrews Place in Conway.

The wedding is set to take place at 1 p.m. Oct. 22, 2011, at Harlan Park Baptist Church on Dave Ward Drive in Conway.

A reception will immediately follow.
