Speakers, events to round out Honors College Challenge Week

The University of Central Arkansas Honors College Challenge Week theme will be "Just Food: Farm-to-Fork Foods Systems for 21st Century Communities."

Several speakers and events will be scheduled for the symposium, which starts Wednesday.

 

Diva to be pampered Nov. 14

Diva for a Day, presented by Jeana Halter and Tera Clark, will be Nov. 14. The diva will spend the day being pampered with a manicure, pedicure, hairstyle, new clothing, new shoes and two meals.

St. Joseph makes history with trip to volleyball finals

St. Joseph volleyball team’s season-long journey has a final stop in Jonesboro on Saturday.

The Lady Bulldogs (23-0) will play Mansfield today at 3 p.m. on the campus of Arkansas State University for a Class 3A state championship.

"It’s big," Davis said, referring to the school’s first finals appearance in volleyball. "It’s a lot of tradition in the school, but this is big for our volleyball program. Hopefully, other girls will come and try-out after seeing the success that this program has been having. This can be the start of a great tradition in volleyball."

In their opening match of the state tournament, the Lady Bulldogs recorded a sweep against Alpena in Harrison. St. Joseph’s most recent victory came against defending champion Lavaca, 25-11, 25-19, 25-21 on Thursday.

 

St. Joseph junior high basketball

St. Joseph’s junior high basketball teams split with Mount Vernon-Enola in action on Thursday.

St. Joseph boys won 52-24, and Mount Vernon-Enola girls captured a 52-32 victory.

For the Junior Bulldogs (1-1), Andrew Beck and Drew Bates led in scoring with 14 points apiece. Landon Enderlin had six points. Cole Schichtl and Jake Fisher pitched in four points apiece.

St. Joseph’s Andrew Kordsmeier and Schichtl finished with nine and four rebounds. Enderlin and Beck finished with three assists. Kordsmeier had three assists and three steals.
