Faulkner County Assessor Jeff Stephens announced his plans for re-election Tuesday.

Stephens, D-Greenbrier, has served nine terms in the position, since 1993.

Stephens attended Pulaski Technical College and IAAO Mass Appraisal courses.

He is married to Anita Stephens. The couple have two children, Matt Stephens and Ben Stephens.
He is the son of L.P. Stephens and the late Mae Stephens.

Stephens is a member of the Arkansas Assessors’ Association, and served on the board 12 years. He is a member of the Association of Arkansas Counties’ Risk Management Fund’s board of trustees, the Association of Arkansas Counties’ board of directors, the Association of Arkansas Counties’ legislative committee and the Commissioner of State Lands’ advisory board.

Stephens was previously a residential and commercial appraiser for Faulkner and Pulaski counties, working in assessment since 1985.

“I will strive to keep the Faulkner County Assessor’s office operating in a professional and friendly manner,” Stephens said. “I will always be open to public input and questions. Also, I will continue to upgrade the assessor’s office when and where necessary to keep up with the changes in the growth of Faulkner County and the laws of the state of Arkansas, and to accomplish these upgrades in the most effective and affordable ways possible.”
