Doris Orene Martin Stark, 88, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Feb. 26, 2010.
She was a member of Blackwell Baptist Church, where her late husband of 68 years, the Rev. R.O. Stark, had been pastor until his death in November 2007.
She was born on June 16, 1921 in rural Hope to the late John William and Cora Huckabee Martin. Ten brothers and four sisters preceded her in death. She is survived by one son, Larry (Paula) of Dubuque, Ia.; three daughters, Wanda (Fred) Landers of Conway, Betty Jones of Richmond, Kent., and Donna Hall of Conway; one brother, Robert Martin of Hope; as well as 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother, beloved grandmother and compassionate pastor’s wife. Doris avidly and faithfully read her Bible and was an unfailing prayer warrior. A spotless housekeeper and excellent cook, she enjoyed being a busy homemaker. Her freezer was always filled with a variety of vegetables, and her kitchen counter was adorned with apple, pecan or coconut pies. All who knew her will remember her kind and gracious personality. She will be sorely missed by her loving family who feel so blessed to have loved and been loved by her.
Relatives and friends may stop by the funeral home to view Mrs. Stark on Monday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. A celebration of Mrs. Stark’s life will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway with Pastor Don Chandler officiating. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park. The family requests that memorial gifts be given to Central Baptist College in Conway.
The family would like to express our thanks and gratitude to Dr. Bart Throneberry and his staff for the excellent care given to our Mother for the last 23 years. We would also like to thank the loving and compassionate ladies of Arkansas Hospice 4.
