RUSSELLVILLE (AP) — Two people are dead after an accident on Interstate 40 near Russellville that involved three tractor-trailers and a pickup.
The accident occurred just before 7 a.m. Monday and authorities shut down both the interstate and nearby State Highway 64 for about an hour.
Pope County Sheriff Aaron Duvall says the wreck caused one tractor-trailer to run off the highway, where it caught fire. He says the two bodies were recovered from that vehicle, which was carrying vegetables.
Duvall didn't release the name of the company that owned that vehicle.
He says the drivers in the other vehicles received minor injuries or were not injured at all.
