NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LITTLE ROCK AR

...A FIRE WEATHER WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR MUCH OF ARKANSAS FOR WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON...

.A FIRE WEATHER WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR MUCH OF ARKANSAS... ESPECIALLY WESTERN AND CENTRAL AREAS..VALID FROM NOON UNTIL 6 PM CDT WEDNESDAY. THIS IS BASED ON THE POTENTIAL OF LOW FUEL MOISTURE LEVELS...LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITIES AND ELEVATED WINDS.

ARKANSAS-BAXTER-BOONE-BRADLEY-CALHOUN-CLARK-CLEBURNE-CLEVELAND-CONWAY-DALLAS-DESHA-DREW-FAULKNER-FULTON-GARLAND-GRANT-HOT SPRING-INDEPENDENCE-IZARD-JACKSON-JEFFERSON-JOHNSON-LINCOLN-LOGAN-LONOKE-MARION-MONROE-MONTGOMERY-NEWTON-OUACHITA-PERRY-PIKE-POLK-POPE-PRAIRIE-PULASKI-SALINE-SCOTT-SEARCY-SHARP-STONE-VAN BUREN-WHITE-WOODRUFF-YELL

FIRE DANGER WILL BE ELEVATED ON WEDNESDAY FROM THE LATE MORNING TO THE EARLY EVENING ACROSS MUCH OF ARKANSAS...ESPECIALLY IN WESTERN AND CENTRAL LOCATIONS. THIS WILL BE DUE TO A COMBINATION OF LOW FUEL MOISTURE AROUND 10 TO 15 PERCENT...AFTERNOON RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES FROM 35 TO 45 PERCENT...AND INCREASING WINDS FROM THE SOUTH FROM 10 TO 20 MPH...WITH GUSTS OF 25 TO 35 MPH IN SOME LOCATIONS. TEMPERATURES WILL ALSO REACH THE 70S IN MOST LOCATIONS...WITH SOME 80S BEING SEEN. THESE CONDITIONS COMING TOGETHER MAY CREATE EXPLOSIVE WILD FIRE CONDITIONS. RESIDENTS SHOULD MONITOR THE LATEST STATEMENTS...WATCHES OR WARNINGS DUE TO THIS ELEVATED THREAT.

ALSO ON THURSDAY...WINDS WILL REMAIN GUSTY...BUT MINIMUM RELATIVE HUMIDITY IS EXPECTED TO BOTTOM OUT ABOUT 35 PERCENT AS HIGHER DEWPOINTS ADVECT INTO THE REGION.

CONDITIONS WILL LIKELY COME CLOSE TO RED FLAG CRITERIA ON WEDNESDAY IN MUCH OF THE WEST AND CENTRAL AREAS...AND A WARNING MAY BE ISSUED LATER THIS EVENING OR OVERNIGHT.

REMEMBER...ANY FIRES THAT START WILL HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO SPREAD

QUICKLY AND GET OUT OF CONTROL. EVEN SOMETHING AS SMALL AS A DISCARDED CIGARETTE OR SPARKS FROM MACHINERY CAN START A FIRE.

RESIDENTS SHOULD USE EXERCISE CAUTION IN OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES TODAY.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS..

A FIRE WEATHER WATCH MEANS THAT CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS
ARE FORECAST TO OCCUR. LISTEN FOR LATER FORECASTS AND POSSIBLE
RED FLAG WARNINGS.
