Conway’s Summar Roachell ignored Tuesday the fact that she took command of the girls division of Conway Country Club’s Junior Stroke Championship on Monday.

Roachell, a sophomore-to-be at Conway High, fired the tournament’s best round at 3-under 68 Monday, then powered to an 11-stroke victory, her second major tourney win in a week. She won the Arkansas Women’s Golf Association’s junior match title last week.

Katie Webb, who fired a 77 Monday, was second at 149, followed by Madison Talley and Brooke Alford at 156.

“I tried to keep pushing myself today and play like I didn’t have a big lead,” said Roachell. “I didn’t want to change my game. I also didn’t want to get in a situation that if I made a double-bogey, I would have the pressure of trying to get things back or have to rally after giving up a big lead. So, I pretty much tried to play like I wasn’t in the lead.”

It was Roachell’s second title in the event in three years.

“It was not so much today (Tuesday) as yesterday,” she said. “I was 4-under until No. 14 then double-bogeyed, but I finished strong. Today (Tuesday) I made more bogeys than I would like, but overall, I think I played pretty steady golf.”

She increased her lead in the Arkansas Golf Association girls junior Player of the Year standings. She’ll play the Ben I. Mayo tournament in Fort Smith next week, then head for Pinehurst, N.C., for her first appearance in the United States Golf Association’s Junior Amateur.

“And that’s going to be awesome,” she said.

Hunter Smith won the overall boys title with a 142, edging Dylan Lovell by a stroke. Wesley Harris was third at 145.

All of the boys winners were in the 16-17 division.

Landon Enderlin, 14, of Conway made quite a challenge in Monday’s first round by shooting even-par 71. His 77 Tuesday pushed him back to 148 and a tie for fifth overall. Enderlin won the 14-15 divison by seven strokes.

Drew Greenwood had the best round of the tournament in the boys division with a 69 Tuesday. His 79 Monday put him well off the pace of the leaders.
