Ella Batten, resident at the Village of Seven Mornings, prepares plastic bags to be used to knit sleeping mats for the homeless. Batten and other residents are a part of a group, the Busy Bees, who meet together on Mondays to knit and sew items for those in need. Billie Patrucci, another member of the Busy Bees, said the group has given purpose to her life. "Doing this for others gives us meaning. We do it for other people, but it does a lot more for us than them," Patrucci said. The group knits hats and blankets for Arkansas Children’s Hospital, sews lap robes for area nursing homes, and takes on many other projects as they come. COURTNEY SPRADLIN PHOTO
