A Conway man was arrested Monday by Faulkner County Sheriff’s deputies for first-degree sexual assault and sexual indecency with a child.
Billy Wayne Gray, 68, of 8 Scott Lane, is currently being held at the Faulkner County Detention Center on a $27,000 bond and a no contact order.
According to Lt. Matt Rice of the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office, a 14-year-old female reported June 24 that she was inappropriately touched by Gray.
The victim stated that the molestation began when she was four years old.
A second victim, who is now 20, reported to police in 2004 that she was also inappropriately touched by Gray.
Rice said the case was investigated by the FCSO and Arkansas State Police, but there was not enough evidence to charge Gray.
The second victim stated that she was six years old when the molestation began.
The current investigation led officers to charge Gray in the 2010 case, but the statute of limitations has run out for the 2004 case.
According to 20th Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Marcus Vaden, a conviction on the first-degree sexual assault charge, a Class A felony, could bring a sentence of six to 30 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction.
The sexual indecency with a child charge, a Class D felony, could result in up to six years of imprisonment if convicted.
