Among reports recently released by the Conway Police Department:
1. Residential burglary at 1400 block of Hartje Lane. Victim reported Monday that he returned to his residence to find the back door standing open. The victim stated that it appeared as though someone had stood on his gas grill and lifted the kitchen window to gain entry to the property. Missing from the residence were a 50-inch Samsung flat screen television, a Toshiba laptop computer, two pairs of sunglasses and $500 cash. The television, laptop and sunglasses were later recovered nearby.
2. Shoplifting at 855 Salem Road (Kroger). An employee of the store reported that a woman, who he recognized as a previous shoplifter, entered the store and tried to cause a scene with several other people in her party. The employee stated that the group of people attempted to focus employees’ attention on a man who allegedly fell in the back of the store. The employee said he “was able to get a whole chicken away from the female” and asked her to open her purse. The suspect then fled the scene, stopping traffic on Salem Road to get into a vehicle. The suspect is described as a large black female wearing a blue tank top and blue jeans. The suspect was carrying a large silver/gray purse and an infant.
3. Breaking or entering at 600 block of Oak Street. Victim reported Sunday that someone broke into her vehicle and stole several items. The victim stated that a window on the vehicle had been broken by a rock. Missing from the vehicle were the victim’s purse and her husband’s cell phone. The purse was later located on the west side of Robin’s cemetery, while the victim’s keys were found between two buildings nearby. A witness later found the missing cell phone near her residence.
