VILONIA — A pre-season pep rally and fundraiser is set to kick off football season in the Vilonia School District.

"We are excited about the season and we are anticipating a great football season," said Debbie Knowles, a member of the football booster club, the organization sponsoring the event. "The pre-season pep rally and a fundraising supper is a new tradition that we are starting. It also provides a time people can get together and talk about sports."

The pep rally is to be held at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Vilonia High School courtyard. A spaghetti supper will follow from 6-8 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. Tickets may be purchased in advance from football players at a cost of $7 per person. Or, they may also be purchased at the door that evening.

The menu includes a plate of spaghetti, salad, bread, a beverage and dessert.

The funds will go to help pay for meals for the high school football team as well as purchase bottles of water and other general operating items, Knowles said.
