A North Little Rock man died Wednesday after sustaining injuries in a head-on collision with a Freightliner box truck carrying frozen pizza on Highway 64 near Vilonia.

According to State Trooper Tiffany L. Dycus, Eric Ross, 47, of Little Rock was headed eastbound on Highway 64, near Beryl Road, in a black Ford truck when the accident occurred.

“He then crossed into the westbound lane, striking the Freightliner head-on,” Dycus said.

The accident occurred at 1:05 p.m., and Ross was pronounced dead at Conway Regional Medical Center at 2:52 p.m.

The driver of the box truck was also transported, and sustained minor injuries.

Vilonia Fire Department responded and extinguished the burning pizza truck, which was fully involved upon arrival.

Keith Hillman, Vilonia Fire Department chief, said Ross had to be extricated from his vehicle.
