Bob Evans and his orchestra have been engaged for a subscription dance to be given at the national guard armory tomorrow night. The dance is the only social event scheduled here for the holiday.

The Conway Post Office will be represented at a radilogical defense program course in Kansas City Monday and Tuesday.

Glenn Vann, clerk, was nominated by Postmaster H. D. Russell to take the two-day training.

25 years ago


Relentless and sometimes heavy rain yesterday and today in Conway caused a variety of problems, including high water on several streets, flooded buildings, wrecks and power outages.

Authorities received no reports of injuries, and property damage amounts have not yet been estimated from the heaviest 24-hour rainfall in almost three years.

Four members of the Wampus Cats football team have earned all-state honors from the Arkansas Activities Association.

Senior linebackers James King and J. R. Henderson, senior noseman Avery Pickens and junior halfback John Duhart made the team for the 8-3 Wampus Cats who placed second in the AAAAA-Central Conference this year.

King was also named the outstanding back in the conference and qualified for the high school all-star game this summer.
