Holiday shoppers thronged Conway stores today as merchant-members of the extension division of the Conway Chamber of Commerce observed "Santa Claus day."

Out-of-town buyers were slow in reaching Conway, but they had arrived by noon, and this afternoon the stores were literally "run over" by customers.

 

50 years ago 

(1960)

Three Conway students attending Hendix College, are among seven seniors who will graduate in January at the end of the first semester. They are Charles Anderson, an economics major, Jerry Blackburn and Kelly Yount, both majoring in literature and philosophy

(1985)

Bill Farris Jr. of Conway has been elected president of the Conway Roatary Club and will take office Tuesday, July 1, succeeding the current president, Freed Duncan.

Acxiom Corporation has been named one of the 100 best companies to work for by Fortune Magazine. Acxiom, headquartered in Little Rock, has been ranked number 64 on the list. This is the companys third time in four years to be included, according to spokesman Rizza Barnes.
