A Conway home was completely destroyed after a fire broke out at the residence late Wednesday night.

The home on Fox Lane was “on the ground” by the time firefighters from the Highway 286 East and Liberty volunteer fire departments arrived at about 10:30 p.m.

According to Highway 286 East Fire Chief Rodney Sanders, all of the occupants were able to escape the blaze. A dog and 15 puppies were lost in the fire.

A relative said the victim’s 12-year-old nephew noticed flames coming from the back of the home and alerted the rest of the family, before calling 9-1-1 from a neighbor’s house.

The relative said the family lost everything they owned, including their childrens’ Christmas presents.

Sanders said the cause of the fire is unknown at this time. The Red Cross was notified.
