SILOAM SPRINGS — Conway High School’s girls held off Siloam Springs 74-70 in the Siloam Springs Classic behind a 29-point, seven-rebound outing by sophomore Enjonae Chambers.
The Lady Cats (12-0) led 57-46 at the end of the third quarter, but four Conway starters fouled out in the fourth.
"The bench stepped up and played well, and Chambers was the only starter left in the game. She played like a senior tonight," Conway coach Ashley Nance said.
Also contributing for Conway was Alexus Clardy with 14 points and six steals. Taylor Gault had 13 points and 10 rebounds. Quay Allen-Smith had 13 rebounds, and Bre’Anna Hobbs had 10 rebounds.
The Vilonia Lady Eagles held off Pulaski Academy on the road on Thursday night for a 51-39 win. Coach Alvin Riley said the Lady Eagles played well in the first half, mounting a 12-point lead.
"We played really well in the first half," Riley said. "We did a great job at the free throw line in the second half. We were eight out of nine in the fourth quarter to hold off their comeback attempt."
For Vilonia, Catherine Puckett led the Lady Eagles with 19 points and five rebounds. Maggie Brewer scored 12.
Lydia Gordon contributed six assists.
The Lady Eagles start Conference play at home on Friday at 7 p.m. against Huntsville.
