Former University of Central Arkansas volleyball player Chloe Smith has signed to play professionally in Finland.

The three-time Southland Conference Player and Student-Athlete of the Year will compete for the Kuusamon Pallo-Karhut (translated: Kuusamon Ball Bears) in the Mestarrusliiga Level One league.    

 The team is based out of the town of Kuusamo, 500 miles north of the capital Helsinki, and 40 miles south of the Arctic Circle.    

Smith, who will make her debut on Sunday at outside hitter or opposite, is the first former Sugar Bear to sign a professional contract. The season will last until March 5 with playoffs to follow.    

Smith left UCA as the career leader in kills (1,689), kills per set (3.78) and attempts (4,182), fourth in attack percentage (.286), sixth in blocks (336) and  eighth in service aces (115).
