The latest onslaught of winter weather has put Conway’s basketball teams in an uncertain situation with the possibility of a full day of basketball here Saturday. The junior high Blue vs. White games were postponed Thursday night. Those games will be rescheduled for Saturday morning, ninth-grade contests only, with the girls game beginning at 10 a.m. Conway High teams are supposed to host Van Buren in senior games Friday night. Conway officials will make a decision about those games late Thursday night or Friday morning. If Conway High School calls off classes Friday, the games Friday night are automatically postponed, according to district policy. If Conway has classes, a different situation could be created. "Van Buren has a different policy than most schools," said Steve Daniels, Conway Public Schools athletic director. "Even if they are out of school, if they are traveling to an opponent that is in school, they will try to go ahead and play the game as scheduled. So, it’s a wait-and-see situation depending on what we do and whether Van Buren can make it Friday if we are in school." If the Conway-Van Buren games are postponed Friday, they will be made up with varsity games only Saturday afternoon at Buzz Bolding Arena. The girls game will begin at 1 p.m. with the boys to follow. Daniels said the Conway-North Little Rock games, which were postponed last week, has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 1, which is a built-in makeup date on the schedule, at North Little Rock Arena Just across town Saturday, the University of Central Arkansas Sugar Bears are scheduled to host a pivotal game with Lamar University at 2 p.m. at the Farris Center.
