The Conway Police Department is searching for a suspect who after a robbery at Dollar General Store on Hogan Street was reported Tuesday night.

The suspect, whose image was captured on surveillance video during the incident, escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash. The incident occurred around 8:40 p.m. Tuesday, according to a police report.

According to a statement from Conway Police Department public information officer LaTresha Woodruff, a female clerk told investigators that she was placing the money from her drawer inside the safe when an African-American man wearing black clothing, a dark bandana around his face and pink gloves, entered the store and pulled a gun.

Demanding money and brandishing a bag he brought in the store with him, he began grabbing money from the safe and placing it in the bag. He ordered the female clerk to help put money in the bag and had a male employee squat on the floor during the incident.

After taking the cash and leaving the store, the clerks saw the man fleeing north on foot.

Police are investigating the incident and working with the video surveillance to help identify the robber.
