The following students were recently named Conway Optimist club teens of the month.
Kayla Waters of Greenbrier is the daughter of Jim and Anna Waters. She attends Greenbrier High School and is a member of the Beta Club, vice president of the Student Council, and vice president of Rapid Response. She’s a member of the Mathletes, Calculus Club and the Philomathians AP Literature Club. She serves as a volunteer tutoring middle school and junior high students. She plans to attend the University of Central Arkansas to major in nuclear medicine.
Jarrett Alexander of Greenbrier is the son of Hugh and DeDe Alexander. He attends Greenbrier High School and is vice president of Mathletes, and a member of FFA, EAST, and the Beta Club. He will major in engineering at a college that he has not yet chosen.
Haley Ferguson of Mayflower is the daughter of Stephanie Turner and John Ferguson. She attends Mayflower High School and is a member of the Beta Club, co-secretary of the National Honor Society, president of Paws and Claws, and president of the Science Club. She serves as a volunteer at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. She is the manager for all basketball teams. She will attend the University of Central Arkansas to study speech pathology.
Nathan Malone of Mayflower is the son of Gary Malone and Paulette Rowland. He attends Mayflower High School and is a member of the Beta Club. He is president of the Technology Club and is a member of the Science Club. He serves as a volunteer in community clean-up projects, in feeding homeless, and is currently in the process of getting speed bumps installed on neighborhood roads in Mayflower. He will attend Ouachita Baptist University to study accounting.
Rocky Dylan Hedrick of Conway is the son of Larry and Tina Hedrick. He attends Conway Christian High School and is a member of the Praise and Worship Team, the National Beta Club, the Drama Club, the Quiz Bowl Team, and he is captain of the soccer team. He is a volunteer with the Faulkner County Teen Court. He will attend the University of Arkansas to major in electrical engineering.
Claire Summers of Conway is the daughter of Dan and Patti Summers. She attends Conway Christian High School and is a member of the tennis team, the Drama Club, the Quiz Bowl Team, the Beta Club, and the Book Club. She is a volunteer with school outreach and youth group community service projects. She plans to attend Harding University to study history or journalism.
