A number of solemn events are slated for Monday’s holiday at Faulkner County cemeteries and memorials.

Veteran Hughie Craig will attend each of the events to continue the honor of his military service.

Craig will play "Taps" on a bugle instrument in remembrance of service members who have died or lost their lives in duty.

Ceremonies begin at 8 a.m. Monday at Oakland Cemetery in Holland. The speaker will be American Legion Post 16 Chaplain Charles Yarbro.

Yarbro will also speak at two ceremonies to follow, at 8:30 a.m. and at 9 a.m. at Carter Cemetery north of Highway 36 and at Old Liberty Cemetery off of Highway 64.

At 9:30 a.m., State Rep. Linda Tyler will speak at Crestlawn Cemetery on Highway 64 East.

At 11 a.m., Conway Mayor Tab Townsell will officiate the ceremony at Oak Grove Cemetery in Conway.

At 1 p.m., State Sen. Gilbert Baker will speak at Macedonia Cemetery off of Skyline Drive.

At 4 p.m., Tyler will officiate a ceremony at the Faulkner County Courthouse, and finally, at 6 p.m., Baker will speak at Copperas Spring Cemetery in Guy.
