The New York Giants, opening a four-game series with the Chicago Cubs, won both games of a doubleheader Sunday at Wrigley field in Chicago, taking 6-1 and 8-6 victories. Mel Ott, Giant’s rightfielder, clouted out a home run in the ninth inning of the second game.

Jerry Hal Robbins of Conway has resigned a teaching position at Clinton to become principal of the high school in Adrian, Mo.
Robbins, who studied at the University of Arkansas during the summer, assumed his new position this week.
He taught mathematics and directed the band at Clinton.
Robbins graduated from Hendrix College in 1959.

Kim Hull and Barry Grant have been selected at the University of Central Arkansas as cheerleaders for the 1986-87 athletic season.
Miss Hull is a daughter of Don and Norma Hull of Conway. She is a sophomore majoring in communications.
Mr. Grant is a son of Marion Grant of Conway. He is a senior majoring in business management.
