It took about 30 years and the cooperation of a half-dozen or so agencies to achieve, but a ceremonial ribbon was cut Friday morning, officially opening the Grassy Lake Road relocation south of Mayflower.

Among those at the ceremony were Scott Bennett, new acting director of the Highway Department; John Burkhalter highway commissioner for this area; State Sen. Gilbert Baker, State Rep. Jane English, County Judge Preston Scroggin and Glen Wilhite, the county roads supervisor who built the chip and seal road.
