The Central Arkansas Model Railroad Club (CAMRC) in Conway will sponsor a free Train Open House event at the McGee Center at 3800 College Ave. in Conway on Saturday, Oct. 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The featured attraction will be the first showing in Conway of a large (11.5 x 14 feet) Lionel train layout designed and built in central Arkansas by members of the Lionel Collectors Club of America (LCCA) and other hobbyists. Up to four trains will be run simultaneously with state-of-the-art wireless remote control. Visitors will be able to operate some of the operating accessories using trackside pushbuttons. The modular HO-scale train layout built and continually enhanced by CAMRC members will also be in operation. A new module with a mountain range, canyon, and realistic waterfall will be placed on this layout for the first time. Other model railroad layouts will be shown, and Q&A demonstrations will be presented. For more information and/or to join CAMRC, visit the club’s website: www.artains.org.
