The Lantern Theatre and Conway Community Arts will present Shakes Spooktacular at 8:30 p.m. on Monday, at the Lantern Theatre, 1021 Van Ronkle in downtown Conway. This short evening of scenes and monologues incorporates ghost and death scenes from Shakespeare’s creepiest, eeriest, and most hair-raising plays.
Students from UCA Theatre who have been studying Acting Styles under the direction of Assistant Professor, Chris Fritzges, will showcase the scenes and monologues as part of this fundraising event for the Lantern Theatre.
The plays showcased will be Macbeth, including two Lady Macbeth scenes, one of the Witches’ scenes, and the banquet scene where Banquo appears in ghostly form. From Richard III, the scene featured will be the murder scene of Richard’s brother, Clarence. From Romeo and Juliet, audiences will witness Juliet’s speech as she takes her potion and the death scene of Romeo. And finally, from Henry VI, Part I, Joan of Arc will invoke the fiends from Hell to aid her in her battle.
Admission to the event is $5. Reservations are not required. Doors open at 8 p.m. Concessions will also be available. The event is suggested for ages ten and older. A question and answer session will be held immediately following the performance which is approximately 30 minutes in length.
