VILONIA — Vilonia made it a haunting Friday night for the Harrison Goblins, giving them a steady dose of double-wing football on the way to a solid 35-7 victory at Phillip Weaver Stadium.

The Eagles (2-4, 3-6) broke a four-game losing streak and gained momentum for Thursday night’s Judge’s Cup game against Greenbrier at home.

A blocked punt that led to Michael Atkinson’s 12-yard touchdown run on Vilonia’s first possession set the tone.

Then, Vilonia used power football, particularly with James Sax, to build a 28-0 halftime lead.

Quarterback Kyle Wyatt capped one touchdown drive with a 1-yard sneak and Houston Cotton followed with an 18-yard scoring run a short time later.

Sax, who rushed for 82 yards in the first half, made the score 28-0 shortly before halftime on a 4-yard run.

Wyatt’s 1-yard sneak with 8:37 left in the third quarter gave the Eagles a 35-0 lead and invoked the mercy rule.

Harrison (0-6, 1-7) scored its only touchdown late in the fourth quarter.
