Mrs. Elizabeth McClain of Conway, wife of W. E. McClain, was appointed district deputy grand lecturer of the Thirteenth Arkansas O. E. S. district, comprising 10 chapters in Faulkner and adjoining counties, at the state O. E. S. meeting closing in Little Rock yesterday. Mrs. McClain succeeds Mrs. Lucy May Dial of Heber Springs. 

About 20 members of Palmetto chapter No. 47 of conway attended the state meeting.

Misses Kay Satterfield and Eileen McGee were hostesses for a "com-as-you-are" breakfast at 5 a.m. yesterday at the Satterfield home. The event was in honor of the 1961 Hi-Day royalty of Conway High School. Centering the breakfast table was a gold capri-corn filled with fresh fruit holding a blue and white Hi-Day flag. The royalty included Pat Cantrell, queen, and Miss Gayle Paulette Johnson, maid of honor. Senior class maids were Misses Marsha Black and Dorothy Hunter; junior maids were Misses Glenda Purtle and Linda Tackett and sophomore maids were Misses Brenda Turner and Susie Mabry.

Airman 1st Class Gary B. DeWitt Jr., son of Gary B. DeWitt Sr. of Conway recently completed Air Force training as a telephone central office switching equipment specialist at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas.

During the course, students received instruction in electronic fundamentals and principles of telephone switching equipment, telephone equipment installation, circuit analysis and troubleshooting, and maintenance procedures.

Sharon Lotscher of First State Bank presented Amy Shiew, Leslie Hart, Taylor Hart and Michael Shiew with a $100 check on Thursday. The money will be used as seed money for an educational trip to space camp by the Julia Lee Moore Elementary School fifth-graders.
