DANVILLE — The St. Joseph basketball teams split games at Danville on Tuesday night.
St. Joseph won the boys game 65-46. The Bulldogs, who moved to 11-0 on the season, led just 34-31 at halftime before pulling away in the second half.
"I was proud of the way we played defense in the second half," St. Joseph coach Brent Bruich said. "The guys really competed hard (Tuesday)."
Cole Schichtl had 20 points and seven rebounds. Andrew Beck had 16 points and also grabbed seven board. Drake Cooper scored 11 points, while Andrew Kordsmeier added eight.
The St. Joseph girls suffered their second straight loss, falling 48-43 to Danville.
Heather Moix had another double-double performance, scoring 14 points and grabbing 16 rebounds. Meagan Briggler scored nine points, while Rachel Briggler had seven points and five assists. Courtney Briggler scored seven points.
St. Joseph also won the junior boys game, taking a 29-22 victory.
William Fields scored 12 points to lead the way. Dylan Schrekenhofer scored eight points. Britt Stroth and Owen Echols had five and four points, respectively.
Danville won the junior girls game 34-11. Caroline Dail led the Junior Lady Bulldogs with three points.
Central Arkansas Christian defeated Greenbrier 64-61 Tuesday night in a senior boys matchup.
Darrin Gibbs led the Panthers (1-1) with 16 points. Malik Wright and Jordan Wilcox provided a spark off the bench, scoring 14 and nine points, respectively. Dylan Singleton also had nine points.
Greenbrier will return to action next week in tournament action in Searcy.
VILONIA — Vilonia’s girls won their home opener against previously undefeated Sacred Heart, 61-55, in double overtime Tuesday night. Vilonia led 13-10 after the first quarter, 27-18 at the half and 40-35 after three quarters.
Ashlyn Hightower led in scoring for the Lady Eagles with 19 points on six for eight shooting from the field that included three for three from 3-point range. She was four for four from the free-throw line and had 5 rebounds. Alaina Riley followed with 17 points, eight rebounds and 5 assists. Baylee Daves had nine points and 10 rebounds. Colleen Farris finished with eight points, three rebounds and three assists.
The Lady Eagles play next against Mayflower at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the St. Joseph Classic.
