Mrs. O. S. Russ entertained 24 guests Tuesday afternoon at her suburban home south of Conway with a prettily planned party in honor of the eighth birthday anniversary of her daughter, Joan. Games and contests were featured and Martha Belle Shryock won the contest prize. Refreshments of cake and hot chocolate were served from the dining table which was covered with white damask and centered with a large birthday cake. The table was bordered with inflated balloons in a variety of colors, which were given as souvenirs.

Eight of 10 Conway youths will take part in a junior rifle contest staged by the Woodmen of the World, at the Little Rock Air force Base tomorrow, J. W. Yeoman, state manager, said today.

Boys from Clinton, Fort Smith, Danville, Perryville, Des Arc, Jonesboro and Weiner also are to participate.

A guided tour of the base is planned at 10 a.m., Yeoman said, and contestants and their sponsors will have lunch at the Non-Commissioned Officers Club on the base.

Bill and Jane Thomas of Conway will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at a reception from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the McHenry Fellowship Center at .First United Methodist Church. The couple were married Nov. 25, 1936, in Conway. Mr. Thomas is a retired postal worker and Mrs. Thomas is retired from American Transportation Corp.

Senior art students at the University of Central Arkansas are having their day in the sun this month as they participate in the annual BA/BFA Senior Art Exhibition in Baum Gallery.

Several Faulkner County students are among those with art on display. They include bachelor of fine arts graduates Eric Berkemeyer of Vilonia, David Borengasser, Dema A. Gilmore and Julie Mosbo, all of Conway.
