The young peoples’ group of Salem Church consisting of approximately 30 members met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E.H. Fair for the purpose of showing their gratitude of the services of Eldon Fair as president of the league. Miss Ruth Holland directed a number of enjoyable games. The group presented the outgoing president with a nice billfold as a token of their good will and appreciation.

St. Joseph junior boys pulled away from guy in the second quarter and picked up their 10th win, 32-11, here last night.
Joe Grummer led St. Joseph with 14 points.
Karen Larson pumped in 24 points to lead the St. Joseph senior girls to a 44-40 victory over Guy. Myrtle Little and Jean Ann Fielder scored 18 and 17 points respectively, for Guy.
The Guy junior girls walloped St. Joseph, 49-27, as Linda Rowlett hit 25 points.

The University of Central Arkansas and Cameron University, the Bears’ first round opponent in the NAIA football playoffs, are prominent among the leaders in every defensive category, according to the final regular-season statistics.
Cameron leads the nation in total defense with an average yield of 185.81 yards per game; UCA is third at 215 yards. Cameron is fourth in rushing defense, eighth in pass defense and third in scoring defense with an average yield of 8.9 yards per game. The Bears led the nation in pass defense and are second in scoring defense with an average yield of 7.8 points per game.
UCA’s Cedric Holt finished seventh in rushing with an average of 130 yards per game. The Bears’ Mark Turner tied for ninth in interceptions with seven.

The Conway Reds’ age 10-11 baseball team recently won the Maumelle Fall Ball championship. The team is sponsored by Pest Management, Inc. The players are Jordan Leach, Garret Graham, Scottie Stewart, Daniel Antoine, Matthew McDaniel, Tyler Moon, Will Patterson, Marshall Hall, Luke Kordsmeier, Stephen Hicks, Robbie Martinez, and coaches Thomas Budnick, Frank Antoine and Pat Moon.
