R. H. Smith, 65-year-old Holland man, killed a young buck on a deer hunt in Perry County Christmas Eve Day. Although Mr. Smith has been hunting a number of years, Thursday’s kill was his first of a deer. He was accompanied by his brother J. A. Smith, and Brinton Smith and Alfred Brady.

Mr. and Mrs. Earl Ward of Conway announce the marriage of their daughter, Earlene, to John Luther Russell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Russell of Taylorsville, Miss. The marriage was solemnized Friday, Dec. 22, at the Second Baptist Church. The Rev. William West officiated. Mrs. Russell is a graduate of Conway High School. Following a short trip to Mississippi, the couple is at home in Conway.

George Fulton at Virco Mfg. Corp had his name drawn recently as a winner of $500 cash. Virco gave away $14,000 as part of an annual safety program with those employees having no reportable accidents being eligible for the money. Over 750 Virco employees qualified for the drawing.

Three Conway police officers are enjoying the holidays with their families before shipping out to Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula for six months.

The police officers, Sgt. Derald Neugebauer, Stephen Cupp and Anthony Ryken, returned home on Dec. 20 with their National Guard unit and will remain until the first week of January when they will return to Fort Carson, Colo., where they have been stationed since October, and then fly to the Sinai Peninsula along with other members of their national guard unit, the 2nd Battalion, 153rd Infantry Regiment, headquartered at Searcy.
