John C. Pickett, a member of the Faulkner County Quorum Court, will seek re-election to the court in JP District 7.
In the two years that he has served on the Court, Pickett, as a member of the finance and administration committee, has been active in addressing financial issues that come before the Court.
"The Quorum Court adopted a very cautious budget for 2012 last December but, after a recent review of the forecasted county revenues, the Court was able to grant a modest and long deserved cost of living increase to all county employees," Pickett said. "This is the first increase in a number of budget cycles and represents a well-earned increase for all of our county employees."
Pickett also serves on the Personnel Committee and the Plant Maintenance and Grounds Committees.
Pickett taught business and economics for nearly 40 years. Pickett graduated from Hendrix College and the University of Missouri. He is an emeritus professor of economics from UALR’s department of Economics and Finance. Pickett remains active in forecasting the US, Arkansas and Faulkner County’s economic outlook. Pickett is a member of Conway’s First United Methodist Church. He is married to former State Representative Betty Pickett, and they have two sons and two grandsons.
"It has been an honor to represent the voters of District 7 for the past two years," he said. "Thanks to the voters of District 7 for allowing me the opportunity to serve."
