A potential theft of a purse in the Walmart parking lot was thwarted by an unknown woman who retrieved the purse and identified the license plate.

Conway police were called to the Walmart on 1155 Skyline Dr. in response to an attempted robbery in the parking lot. The victim said her purse was sitting in the cart behind her car while she was loading items into the vehicle. She said a tall, black man grabbed the purse and began running toward a red SUV. The victim and another woman she did not know began chasing him.

The suspect could not open his door and threw the purse in the back window. When the suspect finally got the back door open, the woman reached inside the SUV and retrieved the victim's purse. As the SUV sped away, the woman wrote down the license plate number.

When police arrived, they were able to see the surveillance video that showed the vehicle circling the victim until she stopped at her car. They observed the suspect taking the purse and the woman running after the suspect and grabbing the purse out of the suspect's vehicle.

Conway police made contact with the Little Rock Police Department after running the license plate and finding the address in Pulaski County. The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office sent deputies to the address connected with the license number, but no one was home.
