The body found in a vacant lot on Harkrider Street in Conway Friday is that of a California man, Conway police said Monday.

According to La Tresha Woodruff, public information officer for the Conway Police Department, the man was in his 60s.

Woodruff said the man's family hasn't been reached yet, so police are not releasing his name.

There are still no apparent signs of what caused his death at this time, she said.

The body was found just north of a Conway tire business Friday when someone stopped to see if a car parked in the lot was for sale, Woodruff said.

According to Woodruff, the person smelled an odor that led to the man's body.

The body was found about 15 feet from the car with California plates.

Investigators believe the body was in the lot for about one week.
