A 20-year-old Quitman woman was formally charged with first-degree murder on Monday in Faulkner County Circuit Court in the case of the Aug. 20 shooting death of 24-year-old Cody Hughmichael Bradley, also of Quitman.

Jamie Lynn Leach, the victim’s girlfriend, was interviewed by police after deputies found her "incoherent" and with minor injuries in a field behind Greenbrier’s Eastside Elementary School.

Bradley was found dead in the apartment he and Leach shared at 763 Highway 25 North, having suffered a single gunshot wound to the chest, after police responded to a 9-1-1 call placed by Bradley’s father.

First-degree murder is a Class Y felony, punishable by 10-40 years or life in prison.

Leach is being held in Faulkner County jail on a $500,000 cash bond. A pretrial hearing has been set for 9 a.m. on Dec. 3.
