Conway police have arrested a man suspected in the case of the alleged rape of a Conway woman last week.
Latresha Woodruff, public information officer with the department, said Jonathan Thacker, 32, of Conway, was arrested Monday night after he turned himself in for questioning.
Investigators named Thacker as a person of interest on Monday afternoon. Police say a resident at Keathley Drive off of East German Lane called police around 3:40 a.m. Friday to report she was asleep in bed when she woke up with a man "straddling and choking her."
The victim told police the man made her undress and then forced her into the bathroom where he allegedly sexually assaulted her.
The woman managed to escape through an open bathroom window, the same window police believe the subject used to gain entry into the home. The woman went to a neighbor’s house to call police and saw the alleged attacker leave through the front door. She then returned to the home to get her child.
Thacker is being held in Faulkner County jail on charges of rape and residential burglary.
