Deputies with the Faulkner County Sheriff's Office are investigating an overnight shooting that left one person dead and another injured.

Capt. Matt Rice, public information officer with FCSO, said deputies were dispatched around 1:30 a.m. Friday to a residence at 55 Buddy Lane, off of Highway 286, in reference to a shooting.

Discovered outside of the home were Charles G. Hooten, 39, and Debbie L. Ford, 47, both of Conway.

Hooten suffered a fatal gunshot wound, Rice said. Ford had also been shot, but was medflighted to UAMS, where she is currently in stable condition.

It is currently unknown who reported the shooting. Officials declined comment on the type or caliber of weapon used in the incident and on possible motives but did confirm the home in which they were discovered was not the residence of either victim.

Rice said a suspect who was detained at the scene is being held in jail pending charges. The suspect's name has not yet been released.

According to the victim's Facebook profiles, Hooten and Ford were engaged. Hooten's profile indicates he was an employee at Tokusen. Ford is a custodian at Conway Public Schools.
