Two vehicles parked outside of Fred’s Super Dollar on Oak Street were the recent targets of an unknown arsonist.

Conway police were dispatched to the store around 6:40 p.m. Tuesday after a caller reported a vehicle fire.

According to a police report, an unknown suspect or suspects attempted to use diesel fuel to set fire to a Buick Lacrosse and a GMC Envoy parked outside of the store.

A store employee had extinguished the flames prior to the arrival of the fire department.

The owners of both of the vehicles were store clerks who told police they had no idea why anyone would want to set fire to the vehicles.

Arson investigators and CID were dispatched to the scene.

Police have no suspects in the case, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
