Mayflower United Methodist Church
Mayflower United Methodist Church welcomed our new Youth Director, Lindsey Annable, this past Sunday, complete with hand made posters and hugs! Lindsey is eager to bring the Word of God to everyone that she meets. She will be bringing the Children’s Time message each week as well as lead the Youth group. The group will meet each Sunday evening at 5 p.m. We are excited that she had eight youth in worship Sunday morning and seven returned for Youth Group in the evening. A good time was had by all.
In the past, Lindsey has led a healthy living Bible study/fitness camp and has driven students to Ozark Mission Project (a week long camp) being the adult representative from Grace UMC for the students at the camp. She led a group of 4 youth from other churches across the state in multiple mission projects. She also worked as a team leader at Delta Pride week long camp that was held at Arkansas State University Wesley Foundation. She has also researched curriculum for the 5th and 6th grade group as well as lead Bible studies for that age group. She has also led devotionals for youth from 5th grade through college. She has also been responsible for coordinating events within the church such as fundraisers, scavenger hunts, and Children/Youth Sabbath.
She graduated from Conway High School with honors and is a University of Central Arkansas student who is majoring in Early Childhood Education, as well as being quite active in the Wesley Foundation on campus. We are excited to add such a dynamic young woman to our Church Family and look forward with prayerful anticipation to see how God will lead our church to grow. Bethlehem Baptist Church
Attendance was good this past Sunday, despite it being the opening weekend of Deer Season. Bro. Martin’s sermon was "The Remedy For An Unhealthy Christian" from James 4:1-10. Special music was by Scott Cavin, playing the guitar and singing, "Jesus Paid It All." Accompanying him on the piano was Tanner Stewart and drums, Jimmie Decker. At the close of the service our veterans were recognized and a short video honoring them was shown.
The Bethlehem annual Thanksgiving Dinner will be next Sunday evening (Nov. 24) at 6:30 p.m. in the Family Life Center. This is always a great time of worship, fellowship and good food. The church will furnish the meat and bread. All other, (vegetables, salads, deserts, etc.) will be pot-luck. Bring enough to feed your family, plus one to compensate for visitors.
Sunday morning, Nov. 24, we will be receiving our bi-annual special offering for debt reduction, Soar, and mission trips. Our goal is to pay off our entire building debt and be debt free with this offering.
This year the Adult Sunday School Class and the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class will combine for a big Christmas party in the Family Life Center at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14. The meal will be catered by the Fish House at $12.95 per person. If you do not attend Sunday School and fall into these age groups you are invited to join us for this event.
